MOTORCYCLE INSURANCE

Motorcycle insurance is a contract between an insurance company and a motorcycle owner that protects the owner from financial losses in the event of an accident or theft. The policy will typically cover the cost of repairs or replacement of the motorcycle, as well as any medical expenses incurred by the rider or passengers.
The amount of motorcycle insurance that you need will vary depending on a number of factors, including the value of your motorcycle, your state's insurance requirements, and your own personal risk tolerance. However, most motorcycle owners choose to purchase at least the following types of coverage:
  • Bodily injury liability insurance protects you from financial responsibility for any injuries that you cause to other people in an accident.
  • Property damage liability insurance protects you from financial responsibility for any damage that you cause to other people's property in an accident.
  • Medical payments coverage pays for your own medical expenses incurred in an accident, regardless of who is at fault.
  • Collision coverage pays for the cost of repairs or replacement of your motorcycle if you are involved in an accident with another vehicle.
  • Comprehensive coverage pays for the cost of repairs or replacement of your motorcycle if it is stolen or damaged by something other than a collision, such as fire or vandalism.
In addition to these basic coverages, you may also want to consider purchasing uninsured motorist coverage, which protects you if you are injured by a driver who does not have insurance. You may also want to purchase underinsured motorist coverage, which protects you if you are injured by a driver who does not have enough insurance to cover your medical bills.
The cost of motorcycle insurance will vary depending on a number of factors, including the value of your motorcycle, your state's insurance requirements, your own personal risk tolerance, and your driving record. However, you can expect to pay anywhere from $50 to $200 per year for basic motorcycle insurance coverage.
